Patient Access Representative is responsible under the general supervision of the Patient Access Manager to process patients through the admission procedures. Collects and completes accurate personal, clinical and financial information in an effective and courteous manner. Ensures compliance with admission criteria, verifies insurance and eligibility, initiates pre-authorization, establishes liability for payment to bill and collect from third-party intermediaries and insurance companies. The position requires the ability to relate to all levels of management, medical staff, patients and visitors. Representative is also responsible for preparing receipts for bank deposit and data entry, posts money collected on hospital accounts, post miscellaneous hospital cash, balance to GL and Finance Daily. Representative must have the ability to solve daily problems relating to very ill, injured, or uncooperative patients. This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and the Patient Access Department.
